Lakshmi, or Lakshmi (March 23, 1921 – January 7, 1987), was one of the notable women writers of Tamil Nadu. She wrote many social short stories and novels. Lakshmi was born in Thaniyam, Trichy district. Her father was Dr. Srinivasan, and her mother was Battammal. Her parents gave her the name Tripurasundari. She was a doctor and a writer who had a unique place in the world of Tamil literature and lived not only in Tamil Nadu but also in South Africa for many years.
She has written more than a thousand short stories, about one hundred and fifty novels, five collections of essays, and six medical books.
Her novel "Oru Kaveri Pola" won the Sahitya Akademi Award and received many prizes and awards from literary organizations, including the Tamil Nadu Government Prize.
