Andal, also known as Godadevi, was a female saint and poetess who lived in the 8th century in South India. She is known for her devotion to Lord Vishnu and is considered one of the twelve Alvars, the great Vaishnava saints. Andal's poetry, known as Thiruppavai and Nachiyar Thirumozhi, is considered among the most beautiful and poignant in Tamil literature. This Andal idol is moulded on clay with precision, and painted with bright colours that reflect Andal's charming personality and devotion to Lord Krishna. The statue is decorated with garlands and the symbolic parrot.
