According to Dharma Sastra, a male member has to wear four garments over his body, Dhoti, Angavastram, Uthareeyam (small piece of cloth) and koubeenam. Dhoti to cover the part below the waist. Koubeenam to cover the marma sthana. Angavastram to cover the shoulder and upper body conveying that he is a scholar or an individual of some stature and Uthareeyam is a small cloth of two to three feet yards usually worn around the waist or over the shoulder as per the requirement. Comes in different, designs, colours, shades and sizes, to suite the requirement.
